2. Final Project

Option 1:

Now that you have learned about and done some hands-on exploration with a wide variety of tools to support ALL learners, what do you want for your classroom? Make a proposal!! Take your time. Make it relevant. Use this project as an opportunity to further explore apps, software programs, online tools (Dropbox, Diigo, google drive, Wikispaces, Edmodo, multimedia tools, Read and Write for Google, Padlet, Twitter, Chrome Extensions, iOS apps, Accessibility options built into operating systems, etc.) that you want/need for your classroom. Let your instructor know of any further resources you need! The Proposal can be a digital paper, or multimedia presentation or a combination of both. Your Choice! Impress yourself.

The project itself can be done alone or in pre-approved co-operative groups of no more than two students. You will develop a plan for integrating the use of computers and/or other technologies (MULTIPLE TOOLS) into the classroom curriculum. Your plan must include: (see Rubric)

  • Classroom profile (general not individual) [2 points],
  • Strategies for consideration of student diversity [2 points],
  • Hardware and peripheral choices, including assistive technology [2 points]
  • Website search and how selections reflect Curriculum needs. [2 points]
  • Software search and how selections reflect Curriculum needs. [2 points]
  • Reflection about your online "shopping" to identify appropriate equipment [2 points],
  • Budget [2 points]
  • Reflection post [1 point] - Add your overall thoughts about this project and how it might support you in your efforts to include all students.

Option 2:

Use multimedia or write a reflection piece to demonstrate what impact this course has had on your professional practice. What has changed in your thinking? What did you understand prior to taking the course and what do you better understand now? Reflect on your participation and learning. Impress yourself with the paper or multimedia project you create and submit. This should be high-quality work expected of graduate students who are lifelong learners. Take this opportunity to gain some closure on your experiences in SPND 422. Consider where your thoughts about Assistive Technology and Education started on our first night of class and compare to where you are now. What have you learned? Impress yourself.

Option 3:

With prior approval of the instructor, you can create your CHOICE of an alternative project that demonstrates understanding of course concepts and supports your needs and goals as a professional who works in special education. This should be a high-quality project that reflects graduate student work. Impress yourself.

Remember to impress yourself!! Please do not "phone it in."
